At 4 million Nepal has highest number of NRIs in the world

The US ranks second on the list with so many growth opportunities available for Indians in fields of technology and biological sciences. The 3.1 million people who make up 1% of the population in the US are NRIs

While India is a growing economy, there are several other countries across the world where Indians are getting equally good career opportunities.

The NRI population overseas is increasing due to the rise in global options every day.

Check out this list of the top ten nations with the maximum NRI population globally:

Nepal

The neighbouring country has the highest number of NRIs in the entire world. 4 million NRIs in Nepal comprise 14.7% population of the country.

United States of America

Undoubtedly, USA ranks second on the list with so many growth opportunities available for Indians in fields of technology and biological sciences.

The 3.1 million people who make up 1% of the population in the US are NRIs.

Saudi Arabia

Indians living in Saudi form 9.8% of their overall population, thus being the highest expatriate population in the country. The agreement to balance recruitment of workers from both nations in Saudi workforce has maintained pleasant and friendly relations between the two countries.

Malaysia

There are 2.4 million NRIs residing in Malaysia. They form one of the most diverse groups in the country. NRIs there comprise people belonging to different social classes as well as racial backgrounds in the same community.

United Arab Emirates

The 2.2 million population of Indians in UAE is distributed across three main Emirates: Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Dubai. The also constitute the largest population of residents in the country. Collaboration between the two countries over the years has brought in a scope of increased NRI banking opportunities for India from UAE.

United Kingdom

In the European countries, United Kingdom has the highest population of NRIs at 1.4 million residents. Indian banks are able to gain more business from NRI accounts of people living in UK, due to the high economic standards there.

South Africa

The title for largest Indian city out of India is held by Durban in South Africa. The country has a population of 1.3 million Indians, with maximum of them residing in Durban. The country is a blend of Asian and South African origins of Indians who have stayed there for generations.

Canada

More than 3% of the Canadian population is Indo-Canadians. Most Indians have settled there for higher university education and form a part of the socio-economically affluent strata. Some of the highest number of wealth management requests in India are from Canadian NRIs.

Myanmar

Another neighbouring country also makes the top ten list for highest NRI population at 1.1 million Indians. The reason attributed to this high population is migration of Indians to the surrounding nations quite a few decades ago. Their successors continued to live outside the country, thus increasing the NRI population there.

Mauritius

Indo-Mauritians form 68% of the country’s population, owing to their migration to Mauritius during the British reign in India.

Banks and other financial institutions in India offer unique banking services for NRI account and investments in Indian markets.
