MUSCAT: Bank Muscat, the leading financial institution in the Sultanate of Oman, continues to inaugurate more sports fields across the Sultanate as part of its long-running Green Sports CSR programme.
The bank recently handed over a Green Sports field to the Al Farfara Sports Team in the Wilayat of Bidbid at a ceremony held under the auspices of HE Mohammed Khamis Al Hsaini, Member of the Shura Council.
In another ceremony under the patronage of HE Dr Hamad Hamdan Al Rabie, Member of the Shura Council, the bank inaugurated a second Green Sports field to the Al Aaridh Sports and Cultural Team in the Wilayat of Ibri. Both the opening ceremonies were attended by a number of officials from the two teams and the bank.
Speaking on the occasion, Hamdan Hamoud Al Bimani, Regional Manager, Dakhliyah, Bank Muscat congratulated the Al Farfarah team in Bidbid for successfully completing their Green Sports project. He said that this achievement would contribute in enhancing the facilities and infrastructure available for the team’s practice and for activities by the local community. He hoped that the new facility would help the Al Farfarah team to rise to greater heights, improve community bonding and harness the talent of Omani youth. He called upon the team and its management to build further on this achievement, and take the club to greater heights by optimal utilisation and development of the new facilities.
Meanwhile, Salim Rashid Al-Shidi, Regional Manager – Dhahirah, Bank Muscat spoke on the occasion of the inauguration of the Al Aaridh Sports and Cultural Team Green Sports field in the Wilayat of Ibri, and said that the bank was delighted to continue opening Green Sports fields this year too, thereby continuing its long tradition of extending support to youth sports teams across Oman. He congratulated the Al Aaridh Team and said that the new facility would allow them to improve their sporting capabilities and talents. He added that the bank looks forward to supporting more and more young talent play at the highest level of sports by enabling the implementation of high-quality sports infrastructure for local teams across the Sultanate of Oman.
The Green Sports programme is one of the leading CSR programs in Oman and the scope of support under it includes installation of artificial turf or natural grass on sports fields, floodlighting and water-desalination systems.
In 2021, the bank increased the number of annual beneficiaries to 20 on the occasion of the flagship CSR programme’s 10th Anniversary and the bank recently announced the 20 winners for this year. It is a matter of great encouragement that the Green Sports programme has benefitted 163 teams with over 50,000 team members so far.
Through the 2022 edition of this flagship CSR programme, Bank Muscat has further strengthened its pioneering role in the field of social responsibility and sustainability, and its continuing drive to develop modern sports infrastructure across the Sultanate in the spirit of the Public-Private Partnership model. The facilities developed as part of the programme are often used as a venue for other social activities by communities across Oman, leading to stronger social bonding and positive behaviour among young people as well as the development of talented Omani youth.
