Bharat Gaurav train starts operation

The train has an itinerary of five days involving a full round trip from Coimbatore to Shirdi and back

The first service of the theme-based Bharat Gaurav train from Coimbatore North to Sainagar Shirdi started its journey on June 14. It has an itinerary of five days involving a full round trip from Coimbatore to Shirdi and back.

The train has made the Southern Railways to be the first zone in the Indian Railways to get the first registered service provider under the ‘Bharat Gaurav” Scheme, reported ETTravelWorld. The train had 1100 passengers for the maiden roundtrip service from Coimbatore to Shirdi.

Indian Railways launched the operation of the theme-based Bharat Gaurav train in the month of November 2021

Coimbatore-based South Star Rail is the registered service provider operating the Bharat Gaurav. The service provider has paid INR 1 crore as a security deposit to Southern Railway for the rake with a composition of 20 coaches. Besides, the company has paid INR 27.79 lakh for annual right-to-use charges and quarterly fixed haulage charges of INR 76.77 lakh. In addition, variable haulage charges of INR 38.22 lakh have also been collected for the current round trip The service provider is offering an all-inclusive package to tourists including AC accommodation, bus transport, and special darshan arrangements at Sainagar Shirdi with the facility of a tourist guide.

The train started at 1800 hours and reached Sainagar Shirdi at 0725 hours on June 16 with stoppages at Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Yelahanka, Dharmavaram, Mantralayam Road, and Wadi. During the onward journey from Coimbatore, this Bharat Gaurav Train has a stoppage at Mantralayam Road station for 5 hours to facilitate darshan at Mantralayam temple.
