BREAKING: Covid-19: 52 cases of Delta Plus variant found in India

Delta Plus, a Covid-19 variant variant is much stronger than Alpha and called a ‘Variant of Concern’

 

The finding of cases of Delta Plus, a Covid-19 variant of concern, has alarmed the Indian authorities, as this variant is “much stronger” than Alpha, the variant formerly known as B.1.1.7 and first identified in the UK.

So far, India has registered 52 cases of the Delta Plus variant. The Central Government earlier this week had called the variant a ‘Variant of Concern’.

National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Director Sujeet Singh informed the media during a press conference that India has recorded 52 cases of the Delta Plus variant so far.

 

Among the Indian states where the new variant has been found include, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab, Telangana and West Bengal, Singh mentioned and said eight states had been found with more than 50 per cent of the Delta variant.

 

The cases, according to Singh, have been found in 18 districts of India.
