Char Dham sees record 19.4 lakh pilgrims in little over a month

As on June 12, the total number of pilgrims who reached Uttarakhand for the Char Dham Yatra was 19,43,321, as per the figures released by the temple committee

A record 19.43 lakh pilgrims went for the Char Dham Yatra in a little over a month of the commencement of pilgrimage this year, according to Badri Kedar temple committee, reported ToI. As on June 12, the total number of pilgrims who reached Uttarakhand for the Char Dham Yatra was 19,43,321, as per the figures released by the temple committee.

The Char Dham Yatra began on May 3 with the opening of the doors of the Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines, followed by the opening of the doors of Kedarnath and Badrinath, on May 6 and May 8, respectively. A total of 6,57,547 visited Badrinath, followed by 6,33,548 in Kedarnath.

Now, 16,000 devotees can visit Badrinath and 13,000 Kedarnath Dham in a day. As many as 8,000 and 5,000 pilgrims can visit Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham, in a day, respectively

The Gangotri shrine saw 3,57,091 pilgrims since the start of the yatra while 2,67,038 devotees visited Yamunotri shrine, Harish Gaur, spokesperson of Badri-Kedar temple committee told ToI. The state government had fixed a daily limit on the number of pilgrims for each shrine this year but had to hike the numbers by a thousand, on the directions of the Chief Minister.

Now, 16,000 devotees can visit Badrinath and 13,000 Kedarnath Dham in a day. As many as 8,000 and 5,000 pilgrims can visit Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham, in a day, respectively.
