Amid theories of weak and strong, Covid-19 is rearing its head again in India and other parts of the world. India reported over 2k new Covid cases for the fifth consecutive day on Sunday, while Beijing warned of a grim situation with 39 Covid deaths in Shanghai.

An AFP report said, “Shanghai reported 39 Covid deaths Sunday, its highest daily toll despite weeks of lockdowns, while China’s capital Beijing warned of a “grim” situation with rising infections. The world’s second-largest economy has been struggling to stamp out its worst outbreak in two years with a playbook of harsh lockdowns and mass testing as it sticks to a strict zero-Covid policy, taking a heavy toll on businesses and public morale.”

In India, the positivity rate has gone up as official data suggested a 48 per cent increase in the number of home isolation cases in the last one week.

According to Pioneer, Delhi’s adjoining Noida saw over 20 students infected with Covid-19 in a week. Covid cases are also on rise in Mumbai and Gujarat.

Experts, however, are assuring the new Covid-infected not to panic at the moment, but remain alert and cautious. A forecast by scientists from IIT-Kanpur has put the alarm bell ringing with its suggestion of the fourth wave hitting in India in June.
