Dal with green peas

INGREDIENTS:

Half cup dhuli masor dal

Half cup dhuli yellow mong dal

Salt

1 bay leaf

1 tsp turmeric

Salt

1 tsp sugar

For the tempering

1 cup shelled peas

2 tbsps ghee

1 tsp red chilli powder

Dal with green peas

Cook both the dals mixed together with 2 cups of water and turmeric and pressure cook till the dals are soft and cooked. Cool the pressure cooker and add water to adjust the consistency of the dal. In the meantime, take a small pan, add the ghee and sauté the peas for two minutes. Add the chilli powder while hot and immediately put off the heat. Add the tempering over the dal and serve with steamed rice.

Okra with onions and sesame seeds

INGREDIENTS:

300 gms okra

2 onions sliced

4 cloves of garlic chopped

1 tsp chopped ginger

3 chopped green chillies

1 cup oil

Salt

1 tsp turmeric powder

2 tsps roasted jeera powder

1 tbsp coriander powder

1 tsp amchur powder

1 tsp roasted white sesame seeds for garnishing

Okra with onions and sesame seeds

Wash the okra. Pat these completely dry. Cut the two ends of each okra/bhindi and cut into 2 pieces each. Sprinkle salt and amchur powder and keep aside for 10 minutes. Heat half the quantity of oil and fry the okra over medium heat till golden brown. Mix in the onions and spice and cook over low heat covering with a lid till onions are translucent. Add the remaining oil from time to time. Garnish with sesame seeds and serve with rotis.
