Jyoti Mayal, President, TAAI said that countries like Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Greece, Maldives, Cambodia and Sri Lanka have started welcoming travellers with limited restrictions. It is the responsibility of the travel trade to educate, support and help travellers understand the right protocols, visa processes, and above all best routes and flights. “A joyous moment for all of us in the trade; however, equally important is the responsibility attached,” she added.

“Omicron at the beginning of the year had brought the industry back to Covid levels, however, the recent spike in the number of travellers starting from February had once again elevated hopes of early revival from the damage done to the industry during the pandemic.”

Mayal mentioned that the entire world was opening up in a phased manner as no government wished to invite trouble for its people and especially for travellers and hence limited restrictions were still there. “However, I am sure not for long. With domestic tourism is in full swing and airlines are all more or less overbooked, the travel trade is now eagerly waiting for the international travel to start so that international itineraries may be rolled out and once again people get the opportunity to meet, interact, and enjoy the flavour of the globalisation,” she said.

Mayal said that Omicron at the beginning of the year had brought the industry back to Covid levels, however, the recent spike in the number of travellers starting from February had once again elevated hopes of early revival from the damage done to the industry during the pandemic.
