In a distressing incident reported in Peravallur, Chennai, an elderly couple has taken a stand against their NRI daughter-in-law and her parents, accusing them of harassment and damaging household articles at their residence. According to dtnext.in, the complainant, S Jayaprakash (73), and his wife, Malavathi (63), had been residing on the ground floor of a house built by their son, Anand. However, due to ongoing differences with their daughter-in-law, Lavanya (43), she has persistently demanded their eviction from the property since their wedding.

The situation escalated further when Anand and Lavanya decided to move to the USA, leaving their parents in India. On every visit to the country, Lavanya would confront her in-laws and insist that they vacate the house built by her husband. This created an atmosphere of tension and turmoil for the elderly couple whenever their son and daughter-in-law came back to India on vacation.

Recently, the couple traveled to Salem to visit Lavanya’s house while she and Anand were planning to visit Chennai. Prior to their arrival, Anand had contacted his parents, Jayaprakash, and Malavathi, requesting them to temporarily shift elsewhere to accommodate their stay. In compliance with their son’s request, the elderly couple went to their daughter’s house in Kolathur.

Distressed and frustrated by this unfortunate incident, Jayaprakash and Malavathi filed a complaint with the Peravallur Police, seeking justice for the harassment they have endured.

In response to the complaint, the Peravallur Police have registered the case and issued a CSR (Community Service Register). The authorities are currently conducting further investigations to assess the situation and ensure that appropriate action is taken against those responsible for the alleged harassment and property damage.
