French authorities have dismantled a labour exploitation network employing Indian migrants in the hospitality sector, with developments confirmed within the past 24 hours. The operation, carried out jointly by labour inspectors and police, targeted multiple restaurants and service establishments suspected of violating employment regulations.

Officials stated that several workers were found to be employed without valid permits or under conditions that breached labour laws, including excessive working hours and below-minimum wages. “This is a clear case of organised exploitation that undermines worker rights,” an enforcement officer noted.

Investigators also identified recruitment intermediaries who allegedly facilitated the movement of workers through informal channels. Financial records and employment contracts are being examined to determine the full scope of the network

Several individuals have been detained for questioning, while employers found in violation could face legal action, including fines and potential business closures. Authorities emphasised that enforcement efforts will continue as part of a broader crackdown on illegal employment practices.

Indian community organisations have expressed concern about the vulnerability of migrant workers, particularly those unfamiliar with local labour laws. “Awareness and access to legal support are essential,” a community representative said.

Experts highlight that labour-intensive sectors such as hospitality are particularly susceptible to exploitation due to reliance on migrant labour. “Enforcement must be paired with preventive measures,” analysts observed.
