Dubai-based music prodigy identifies 16 composers in 60 seconds, impressing global audiences with his extraordinary ear for music
A 6-year-old Indian-origin boy, Shivankh Varun Varadharajan, has made history by setting a Guinness World Record for recognising the works of 16 classical music composers — including Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach — purely by ear in just 60 seconds, reported livemint.com.
At only six, Shivankh showcases a rare musical gift that began with cartoon soundtracks.
The Dubai-based prodigy stunned judges by accurately identifying compositions by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, Wagner, Dvorak, Mendelssohn, Liszt, Richard Strauss, Johann Strauss, Rossini, and Brahms — all within a minute
His mother, Yalini, shared that Shivankh’s musical journey began when he was just two and a half years old. He would hum along to orchestral scores featured in cartoons like Tom and Jerry, which often included pieces by the very composers he now identifies with ease. Over time, his ability to distinguish between even subtly similar melodies became strikingly apparent.
During his official record attempt, Shivankh was challenged with a randomised selection of classical excerpts. With flawless precision, he named 16 composers — earning him a spot in the Guinness World Records and praise from music lovers worldwide.
Experts have called Shivankh’s feat a “rare display of auditory memory and classical appreciation” at such a young age, suggesting a promising future in the world of music.
