In a promising development for Indian travelers, Fujairah International Airport (FIA) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is poised to become a convenient gateway to Dubai. According to a senior official at the airport, daily flights from India to Fujairah could commence as early as this year, offering a hassle-free alternative for those heading to Dubai.

Mark Govender, FIA’s business development manager, shared this exciting prospect with Khaleej Times during an event in Dubai. Pending some essential documentation, the service to Fujairah appears imminent. Situated approximately an hour’s drive from Dubai, Fujairah is one of the seven emirates comprising the UAE, boasting stunning beaches along the Persian Gulf.

Emirates Airlines recently partnered with VFS Global to introduce a pre-approved visa-on-arrival service for select Indian passport holders flying to the UAE with the airline, streamlining the entry process and enhancing convenience for travelers

Despite its lesser-known status compared to other UAE hubs, Fujairah International Airport is no stranger to handling significant passenger traffic. With an annual throughput exceeding two million passengers, it boasts the capacity to accommodate at least 20 flights daily, thanks to its parallel runway configuration.

One of the most enticing propositions for travelers is the expeditious immigration process at FIA. Govender highlighted that a passenger arriving at Fujairah airport could swiftly navigate immigration, retrieve baggage, and exit the terminal in under 15 minutes, a remarkable feat in modern air travel.

Dubai has long been a favored destination for Indian tourists, consistently ranking high in travel preferences. Last year, it claimed the top spot in a survey conducted by travel platform Agoda. Earlier this year, Dubai further solidified its appeal by introducing a five-year multiple-entry visa for Indian visitors, allowing for extended stays of up to 90 days, with the possibility of extension.

Complementing these initiatives, Emirates Airlines recently partnered with VFS Global to introduce a pre-approved visa-on-arrival service for select Indian passport holders flying to the UAE with the airline, streamlining the entry process and enhancing convenience for travelers.
