Gambhir hails Lucknow Super Giants for a great showing in IPL 2022, says team will come back stronger

First-timers Luckow Super Giants did exceedingly well in IPL 2022 by finishing third in the preliminary league

Lucknow Super Giants’ mentor Gautam Gambhir has thanked the fans for their support and said the team will bounce back strongly after losing in the Eliminator match in its maiden campaign in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

First-timers Luckow Super Giants did exceedingly well in IPL 2022 by finishing third in the preliminary league and though they lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator match on Wednesday night, can take heart from their campaign.

Gambhir, who has led the Kolkata Knight Riders to the IPL title twice, took to social media to praise the team for a great tournament.

“Hard luck today but a great tournament for our news team. We’ll come back stronger… Until we meet again!” Gambhir wrote in an Instagram post that accompanied a picture of him watching an LSG nets session.

Prior to ‘Lucknow Super Giants swashbuckling entry in the IPL 2022’  and their equally valliant exit from the tournament, the team’s owner Dr Sanjiv Goenka had said he  anticipated a $2 Bn investment opportunity from the side over the next 2 Years

On his Rs 7,000 crore plus investment on Lucknow Super Giants, the RPSG group chairman said, “(With UP’s population of) 26 crore people, we are seeing overwhelming support. This season no games will be played at Lucknow but despite that, the way the state is responding and people are connecting is fantastic.”

The KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) became the first team to crash out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 playoffs after suffering a 14-run defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). 

With 9 wins, LSG had finished at the 3rd spot in the points table and had to defeat the Faf du Plessis-led side to keep its chances alive.

Chasing a big target of 208, LSG were restricted for 193.
