The first seven months of 2022 saw an influx of Indian migrant workers in the GCC countries. The Minister pointed out that economic factors had contributed to this influx. Both skilled and semi-skilled workers such as nurses were required to submit entry permits to the Indian government in order to take up jobs in 18 countries abroad, including GCC countries. He mentioned that those who had worked abroad for three years and paid taxes were exempt from providing an entry permit before traveling.
