Georgia asked more than 1,300 foreign citizens to leave the country in 2025 as it began to enforce stricter immigration rules, with people from India forming the largest group affected.
According to official figures released by the nation’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, a total of 1,311 foreign nationals were expelled throughout the year. Of these, 269 were Indian citizens, placing them at the top of the list. The next largest groups were 176 people from Türkiye and 157 from Iran.
The measures also impacted citizens from neighbouring countries. The data shows that 73 Russians, 39 people from Azerbaijan, and 26 from Armenia were also required to leave Georgia.
