The UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while inviting Singapore for investment in the state of Uttar Pradesh, stated that UP has immense trade opportunities, setting up of industries and investments as such.

Singapore’s new high commissioner Simon Wong Wie Kuen, met the Chief Minister at his official residence and discussed how relations between the two countries, UP in particular, may be further strengthened.

This comes at a time when both the countries are celebrating the 55th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

Simon Wong Wie Kuen’s overseas assignments include postings in Seoul, Beijing and Hanoi. Earlier in his virtual meeting with President Ram Nath Kovind, he shared that Singapore has become the number one investor in India. The cumulative investment in India between 1990 and 2019 amounted to $85 billion.

For relations in all spheres, travel between the two countries needs to be promoted big time, Yogi Adityanath stated

Important to note here that there is also a long-standing strategic partnership in defence and homeland security, between India and Singapore.

Yogi Adityanath vowed to take forward the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who visited Singapore in 2018 to forge better and stronger ties. He emphasized that UP was India’s biggest market, and the environment is perfect for development in the dairy and food processing sector since its economy is based on agriculture. The state leads in the production of potatoes, milk, sugarcane, fruits etc. The government, he said, wishes to double the earnings of farmers by further improving upon the prices.

Chief Minster was proud to state that the state of Uttar Pradesh had a rich cultural heritage, and there were innumerable historical monuments. Religious and eco-tourism are two areas where he said there were immense possibilities for Singapore to explore. For relations in all spheres, travel between the two countries needs to be promoted big time, Yogi Adityanath stated.
