India has reported 39,796 new virus cases and 723 deaths in the last 24 hours due to Covid. While cases and fatalities have seen a dip, the recovery rate has risen to 97.11%. The country’s active caseload has declined to 4,82,071.

Many states, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Goa, are still under lockdown restrictions, while some of them like Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh have announced a certain relaxation in the curbs due to a decline in new cases and positivity rate.

In Bihar, people who have been vaccinated against Covid-19, will be allowed to enter offices. School, colleges will now reopen with 50% capacity, announced CM Nitish Kumar. Government and private offices have been allowed to resume work normally in Bihar.

In Uttarakhand, the government spokesperson Subodh Uniyal today said markets will remain closed on weekends. Covid curfew has been extended by a week in the state. Malls have been allowed to operate with 50 per cent capacity on week days.

In Uttar Pradesh, opening of markets outside the containment zones, full attendance in government offices, opening of eateries with 50% capacity and malls have been allowed. During marriages and other functions, a maximum of 50 people will be allowed at both open and closed venues and only 50 people will be allowed in a religious place at a time, the guidelines said.
