International passenger flights would be normalised “very soon” — possibly by the end of this year, according to India’s Civil Aviation Secretary Rajiv Bansal. Scheduled international flights were suspended in March 2020 when the pandemic started and will remain in suspension till November 30.

In fact, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had said a few days ago that the government was looking at the process for normalising international operations. He mentioned that the country wanted to return to normalcy while keeping in mind the coronavirus pandemic situation in certain parts of the world.

India, however, has air bubble arrangements with a number of countries for operating international flights. Under the air bubble arrangement, international passenger flights can be operated between two countries by their respective carriers subject to conditions

“I am all for regaining our space in the civil aviation arena in the world and making a hub in India and for more wide body aircraft. We will get there but bear with me and trust me, I am on your side. We will work together but in a safe environment,” he had said.
