The ambassador concluded by expressing hope that peace and stability will return to the region soon, while reaffirming the strong bond between Qatar and its large Indian expatriate community
India’s ambassador to Qatar has praised the country’s leadership for maintaining stability and safeguarding residents during the ongoing regional conflict affecting parts of the Gulf.
In a statement issued in Doha, Indian Ambassador Vipul expressed gratitude to Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the government, and security authorities for their swift response to the crisis and their continued efforts to protect both citizens and expatriates.
The ambassador noted that since the conflict escalated in late February, Qatar’s leadership has implemented measures that reassured residents and ensured that their well-being remained a top priority. Qatar is home to a large Indian community, making safety arrangements particularly important.
·One of the key initiatives highlighted in the statement was the country’s emergency alert system, which sends mobile notifications warning residents when potential threats are detected
·The alerts provide instructions on when to seek shelter and notify residents when it is safe to resume normal activities
According to the ambassador, the system has played a crucial role in reducing anxiety among residents and ensuring that people are prepared during emergency situations.
He also commended Qatar’s armed forces for intercepting incoming threats and maintaining security across the country. In one incident during the early stages of the conflict, an Indian national injured in an attack received prompt medical treatment from Qatar’s health authorities.
The ambassador further praised Qatar Airways for assisting passengers stranded during travel disruptions caused by the conflict. Hundreds of transit passengers were provided accommodation and support until flights gradually resumed. Limited flight operations have since enabled thousands of travellers, including Indian nationals, to leave Doha.
Despite the geopolitical tensions, essential supplies across Qatar have remained stable. Authorities ensured that supermarkets and pharmacies maintained sufficient stocks of food and medicines, preventing shortages that often accompany conflict situations.
The statement also emphasised the strong diplomatic ties between India and Qatar, particularly in areas such as energy trade and food supply. India relies on Qatar as an important energy partner, and both countries continue to cooperate closely.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior government officials have also expressed solidarity with Qatar following attacks on the country, condemning violations of its sovereignty.
