The Ambassador of India in Kuwait, Adarsh Swaika, engaged in discussions with Saad Al-Barrak, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil, Economy, and Investments of Kuwait. The talks centered on fortifying bilateral economic and investment cooperation, with a special focus on enhancing hydrocarbon collaboration.

The Indian Embassy in Kuwait took to its social media platform to announce the meeting, stating, “Ambassador @AdarshSwaika1 called on H.E Dr. Saad Al-Barrak, Deputy PM and Minister of Oil and Economy and Investments of Kuwait. Discussions pertained to deepening of bilateral economic and investment cooperation, particularly hydrocarbon cooperation.”

Later in the day, Adarsh Swaika continued his diplomatic efforts, meeting with Mansour Al-Moathen, the Deputy General of the Public Authority for Civil Information in Kuwait. Their discussions revolved around matters related to statistics of Indian nationals in Kuwait, civil ID, and birth registration procedures.

The ongoing diplomatic efforts aim to further strengthen these ties and explore new avenues for collaboration in diverse sectors

This meeting follows a recent diplomatic engagement where Swaika met Kuwait’s Minister of Electricity and Water, Jaseem Muhammad Abdullah Al-Ostad, to discuss bilateral cooperation in the energy and agriculture sectors between the two nations.

Highlighting the growing economic ties, the ambassador noted a substantial 90% yearly increase in trade between India and Kuwait. Currently, the trade relationship is skewed towards hydrocarbon exports from Kuwait and exports of mainly food products from India. Adarsh Swaika emphasized the untapped potential for diversification in bilateral trade.

India and Kuwait enjoy historically warm and close ties, fostered by sustained cultural and civilizational linkages. With approximately one million Indians residing in Kuwait, the countries share not only economic interests but also a strong people-to-people connection. India stands as one of Kuwait’s largest trading partners, while Kuwait remains a significant supplier of oil to India. The ongoing diplomatic efforts aim to further strengthen these ties and explore new avenues for collaboration in diverse sectors.
