Community organisations in the United Arab Emirates have mobilised to support hundreds of Indians affected by travel disruptions in the region.

The Indian People’s Forum (IPF) has established a 24-hour multipurpose control room designed to assist stranded passengers with accommodation, food, transportation and travel coordination.

The initiative comes amid widespread flight disruptions across parts of the Middle East, leaving many travellers uncertain about their return journeys.

According to IPF officials, volunteers working in shifts are handling a surge in helpline calls from distressed passengers across various emirates.

The control room coordinates closely with the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of India in Dubai, ensuring that stranded individuals receive timely guidance and logistical assistance

Since its launch, the support network has handled more than 2,000 cases. Organisers say over 1,500 Indians have already been assisted in returning home.

The organisation has also arranged temporary accommodation for hundreds of travellers whose flights were cancelled or delayed. In addition, volunteers have distributed more than 900 food packets and coordinated medical assistance in several emergency cases.

Community leaders say the initiative reflects the solidarity of the Indian diaspora during times of crisis.

IPF President Jitendra Vaidya said volunteers from different state associations and community groups have come together to provide support to those in need.

“Young volunteers and community members are working tirelessly to ensure that every call is answered and every traveller receives help,” he said.

As travel disruptions continue, the control room remains operational around the clock, offering a vital support system for expatriates navigating uncertain travel conditions in the region.
