Kuwait-Based Indian Student Among Winners of ₹1 Crore Global Scholarship for Singapore Studies

In a proud moment for the Indian diaspora, Arnav Rai, a student of Fahaheel Al Watanieh Indian Private School (FAIPS) in Kuwait, has been awarded the prestigious Global Citizen Scholarship (GCS) 2025 by the Global Indian International School (GIIS). The scholarship, valued at approximately ₹1 crore, will fully fund his higher secondary education at the GIIS Smart Campus in Singapore.

Arnav will pursue the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme for Grades 11 and 12, joining a select group of students chosen through a competitive four-stage selection process. He is the only recipient from Kuwait and one of just ten students selected across Asia this year.

The announcement was made during a felicitation ceremony in New Delhi on July 9, which was attended by GIIS officials, alumni, students, parents, and CBSE Director (Affiliation) Jaiprakash Chaturvedi. The event underscored GIIS’s mission to nurture globally competent leaders through its merit-based scholarship programme.

The GCS programme continues to shine as a launchpad for bright young minds from Asia, offering not just financial support but also a platform for global exposure and holistic development

This year’s GCS cohort features eight students from India and two from the Middle East. Among the winners is also Hyderabad-based student Duaa Ahamed Sherief, recognised for her strong academic record and leadership qualities.

Expressing his gratitude, Arnav described the award as a “transformative opportunity” that will broaden his academic and global horizons. He has already made a mark in the academic field—earlier this year, he secured first place in the Middle East Zone at the Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) National Camp held at IIT Kanpur. The event was jointly organised by NCERT, NCSCM, and Vigyan Bharati (Vibha).
