Indian Workers in Kuwait Adjust to Mandatory Digital Contract Verification System

Indian migrant workers in Kuwait are adapting to a newly implemented digital contract verification system designed to enhance transparency and reduce labour disputes. The system requires employment contracts to be electronically registered and approved before workers begin their jobs.

The reform aims to eliminate contract substitution—a long-standing issue where workers are offered different terms upon arrival than initially agreed. By digitising contracts, authorities seek to ensure that workers fully understand their employment conditions.

Indian workers, who form a significant portion of Kuwait’s labour force, are among the primary beneficiaries of the new system. Recruitment agencies and employers are updating processes to comply with the digital framework

Experts view the initiative as part of a broader trend toward modernising labour governance in the Gulf region. Improved transparency is expected to reduce disputes and enhance worker protection.

However, challenges remain, including awareness among workers and the need for efficient implementation. Community organisations are playing a role in educating workers about the new system.

For Indian migrants, the reform represents a step toward greater security and clarity in overseas employment.
