Calling for systemic reforms, AILA emphasized the urgent need for transparency and accountability in the visa revocation process
In a concerning development for international students, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) has reported that the United States has revoked visas and terminated SEVIS records for 327 students — with half of those affected being from India, reported www.hindustantimes.com.
The association urged for an appeal mechanism for students whose SEVIS records are wrongly terminated, without disrupting their academic or employment status.
According to a statement released by AILA and cited in a PTI report, the organization gathered information from attorneys, university staff, and students about widespread visa revocations under the Donald Trump administration. Among the affected, 50% were Indian nationals, followed by 14% from China. Students from South Korea, Nepal, and Bangladesh also featured significantly in the data.
