France, EU and Belgium visit to deepen India’s engagement with key European partners through high-level dialogues, strategic cooperation and diaspora outreach
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar undertook official visit to France, the European Union, and Belgium from June 8 to 14.
The visit comes at a critical juncture as India strengthens its strategic footprint in Europe through sustained diplomatic and economic engagement.
Dr. S. Jaishankar’s Europe visit to reinforce India’s ties with France, EU and Belgium through bilateral consultations, strategic dialogues, and participation in the Mediterranean Raisina Dialogue.
During his France leg, EAM travels to Paris and Marseille. Marking 25 years of India-France strategic partnership, he held bilateral talks with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, engage with senior leadership, and interact with think tanks and media.
He will also participated in the inaugural edition of the Mediterranean Raisina Dialogue in Marseille—underlining the evolving convergence between India and Europe on key regional and global issues.
In Brussels, EAM focuses on strengthening the India-EU strategic partnership. This follows the momentum set earlier this year during the first-ever visit of the EU College of Commissioners to India. Dr. Jaishankar also held the Strategic Dialogue with EU High Representative and Vice President Kaja Kallas, and meet with leaders from the European Commission and Parliament, along with think tank and media interactions.
India’s growing collaboration with Belgium will also be a focal point. In Brussels, the EAM will hold bilateral consultations with Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot, meet senior leaders, and engage with the vibrant Indian diaspora. Key sectors in India-Belgium ties include trade, green energy, technology, pharmaceuticals, and diamonds.
The visit is poised to enhance India’s strategic partnerships in Europe and expand cooperation in diverse sectors, while reinforcing shared democratic values and global cooperation.
