An order has been issued to form a sub-committee and the state’s Chief Secretary VP Joy has been appointed as the Chairman for regional conferences held in America and Saudi Arabia in June and September
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and cabinet ministers will travel abroad to attend the regional conferences of the Kerala Sabha, reported english.mathrubhumi.com. An order has been issued to form a sub-committee and the state’s Chief Secretary VP Joy has been appointed as the Chairman for regional conferences held in America and Saudi Arabia in June and September.
Last year, the Europe-UK regional conference was held in London. Numerous trolls had flooded the social media on the trips of Vijayan and his entourage including his extended family and there were numerous questions asked in the Kerala Assembly on the gains for the cash-strapped state from these trips which cost a fortune.
“Loka Kerala Sabha is organised to listen to suggestions of the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and discuss matters that align with the state’s developmental agenda.”
Meanwhile, the Opposition parties in the state have refrained from attending the Loka Kerala Sabha conferences hosted in the Assembly building in 2020 and 2022.
The Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan condemning the fresh foreign jaunts said, “The new fiscal has opened with the news that the second anniversary of Vijayan government which is being celebrated now is being done at a cost of Rs 125 crore and now comes the news that two foreign jaunts have been planned. Only Vijayan can do such acts and he is challenging the people,” the Congress leader claimed.
The government, however, said that Loka Kerala Sabha is organised to listen to suggestions of the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and discuss matters that align with the state’s developmental agenda.
