Using IT for tourist facilitation and flow of information to discerning travellers, Kerala Tourism recently launched a Virtual Travel Assistant – Maya – on the WhatsApp platform. The Whatsapp ChatBot will act as a virtual assistant to travellers who need information and assistance about destinations, products, facilities, etc., as text or voice message to information seekers.

The WhatsApp ChatBot was launched officially by the Tourism Minister, PA Mohamed Riyas in the presence of VK Prasanth MLA and VR Krishna Teja, Director – Tourism, Kerala. Calling it a “one of its kind” move in the country, Riyas said that the post-Covid travellers will have a lot of queries before travelling to a destination and seamless and integrated information flow was vital to remain in the reckoning as a preferred destination.

The Minister said discussions have been started to involve students and youth in the upkeep and promotion of tourism in the state. “The endeavour is to make Kerala a role model for Indian tourism in the year 2022,” he said

He said that Kerala Tourism had lauched a mobile app a few months ago and the WhatsApp chat Bot was another step for tourism promotion and information sharing with the travel world.

The Minister said that discussions have been started to involve students and youth in the upkeep and promotion of tourism in the state. “The endeavour is to make Kerala a role model for Indian tourism in the year 2022,” the Minister said.
