A 55-year-old Indian expatriate from Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district has been identified as the victim of a strike near Kuwait International Airport, just hours before he was due to fly home for a family wedding.
Manzoor Ahmed, a tailor who had lived and worked in Kuwait for around 30 years, was scheduled to travel to Mumbai on June 3 before continuing his journey to Ujjain. According to family members, he had gone to the airport early in the morning to catch his flight when the incident occurred near Terminal 1.
His son, Mohammad Anas, said the family lost contact with Ahmed shortly after he arrived at the airport. Concern grew when repeated phone calls went unanswered following reports of a strike in the area. The family later received confirmation of his death from the Indian Embassy in Kuwait.
Ahmed had been looking forward to attending the wedding of his nephew and had spoken with relatives shortly before leaving for the airport. His elderly mother said she had spoken to him the previous night and that he was excited about returning home after a long period abroad
In a statement, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) condemned the attack, confirming that an Indian national had been killed and several others injured. The ministry renewed its call for all parties involved in the ongoing West Asia conflict to avoid targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.
The Indian Embassy in Kuwait said it is in contact with Ahmed’s family and is working with local authorities to ensure the swift repatriation of his remains.
Ahmed’s death has left relatives and residents in his hometown mourning the loss of a man who had spent decades working abroad to support his family.
