From gifting a ₹2 lakh Rado watch to social media influencer Effin to personally involving himself in the well-being of employees and those in need, Ali exemplifies leadership with a heart

His actions continue to set a powerful example of humility, compassion, and responsibility in the corporate world
Indian billionaire and Lulu Group chairman MA Yusuff Ali has once again demonstrated that true leadership goes beyond boardrooms and balance sheets, News X reported.
His recent acts of compassion—personally carrying the coffin of a deceased employee and helping a struggling Kerala woman regain her home—have earned him widespread admiration.
A Leader Who Stands by His Employees
Ali’s heartfelt gesture during the funeral of his late employee, Shihabuddin, moved many. Shihabuddin, a supervisor at Lulu Hypermarket in Abu Dhabi’s Al Wahda Mall and a native of Thirur Kanmanam, passed away due to a heart attack. In a rare display of humility, Ali personally carried his coffin during the funeral prayer, offering condolences to the bereaved family.
A video of this poignant moment, shared on Ali’s social media, quickly went viral, drawing overwhelming appreciation. Many lauded him as a true leader and an ideal employer, with one user commenting, “This is what humanity looks like.”
A Lifeline for a Kerala Woman in Distress
Ali’s compassion extends beyond his employees. In a separate act of generosity, he came to the aid of Sandhya, a woman from North Paravur, Kerala, who was on the verge of losing her home due to unpaid debts.
Sandhya and her husband had borrowed ₹4 lakh from Manappuram Finance in 2019 to build their home. However, after her husband abandoned the family in 2021, loan repayments halted, leading to a steep rise in the outstanding amount, which reached ₹8 lakh due to accumulated interest. Despite multiple warnings over three years, legal action was taken, and Sandhya was locked out of her own home.
A Legacy of Generosity

As the chairman of Lulu Group, which operates 256 hypermarkets and malls across India and the UAE, Ali has built a business empire worth over $8.9 billion, according to Forbes

However, it is his philanthropic endeavors that have cemented his reputation as a leader who values humanity over wealth
Upon hearing of her plight, Ali swiftly instructed his team in India to clear the entire loan amount. Additionally, he extended ₹10 lakh to ensure financial stability for her and her children, giving them a fresh start.
From gifting a ₹2 lakh Rado watch to social media influencer Effin to personally involving himself in the well-being of employees and those in need, Ali exemplifies leadership with a heart. His actions continue to set a powerful example of humility, compassion, and responsibility in the corporate world.
