The think tank will now be known as India Centre for Migration (ICM).

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs is hoping to cover global migration-related issues by renaming and doing structural changes in its think tank which was known as the Council for Promotion of Overseas Employment. For so many years the body serves as an important body in advising, policymaking and promoting promotion of overseas employment for Indians.

The think tank will now be known as India Centre for Migration (ICM).

“Earlier known as Council for Promotion of Overseas Employment, it was renamed on March 27 with the mandate to cover all international migration-related issues,” a statement from the MEA said.

This is an important initiative of the MEA in recent years, that aims at connecting and serving the indian migrants as part of India@75 celebrations.

The ICM has come out with two important products ‑‑ ‘The Impact of Covid-19 on India’’s International Migration’ and ‘Student Handbook for Studying Abroad’.
