New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern estimated that New Zealand will need around 10 million healthcare workers by 2030. A record number of nurses have applied to work in New Zealand and the government told that it is simplifying the requirements so that the immigrants can migrate to the country easily to live, work, and settle.

New Zealand recently announced ‘to add healthcare workers straight-to-residence pathway’. A Specific Purpose work visa will be added to retain 2,500 critical workers for three years, reported y-axis.com.

Nurses, doctors, midwives, and other healthcare workers will be added to the straight-to-residence pathway in the new immigration rules. The announcement was made by Michael Wood, the Immigration Minister of New Zealand. These professionals can enter New Zealand from December 15, 2022.

Ardern said that the shortage of workers was not the only reason to change the immigration settings. There was a need of decent wages and an environment to make the country a great place to work.
