A felicitation ceremony was organised in Doha in honour of Dr Mohan Thomas, an NRI and resident of Qatar, for the last 38 years. He was conferred with Pravasi Bharatiya Samman 2021 at a simple ceremony held at the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) recently.
Dr Thomas is a well-known ENT specialist and a prominent Indian resident in Qatar.
Dr Thomas is the sixth recipient of Pravasi Bharatiya Samman from Qatar. After receiving the award, he expressed gratitude to Qatari and Indian communities and pledged to work for strong ties between India and Qatar
Ambassador of India to Qatar, Deepak Mittal, handed over the prestigious and highest honour for overseas Indians to Dr Thomas. The award is part of the 16th edition of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention held virtually on January 9, 2021.
Dr Thomas is the sixth recipient of Pravasi Bharatiya Samman from Qatar. After receiving the award, he expressed gratitude to Qatari and Indian communities. He pledged to work for strong ties between India and Qatar.
The felicitation ceremony was attended by former Qatari prime minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani; former minister of municipality and environment Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi; Adviser Amiri Diwan, Sheikh Abdulla Bin Ali Al Thani; Director of Public Health Sheikh Mohammed Hamad J Al Thani; members of Indian expatriate community, prominent Indian businessmen and educationists.
