A unique and extravagant celebration took place as a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) couple exchanged vows mid-air on a rented Boeing 747. Dilip Popley, a prominent businessman based in the United Arab Emirates and father of the bride, Vidhi Popley, orchestrated this unconventional wedding, flying approximately three hours from Dubai to Oman.

The Popley family, renowned for their ownership of several jewelry and diamond outlets in the United Arab Emirates and India, hosted around 350 guests, including family, close friends, and media representatives. The festivities commenced at the Jetex VIP terminal near Al Maktoum Airport in Dubai, where guests, adorned in vibrant outfits, captured the moment with photos featuring boarding passes.

The aircraft underwent modifications for the occasion, with sections fitted with small protectors for guests to witness the ceremonies. The ambiance was lively, with guests occasionally breaking into dance to the tunes of Bollywood songs, notably ‘Tune Maari Entriyaan’ from the movie Gunday.

Reflecting on the choice of Dubai for this grand affair, Dilip Popley, who himself had a sky-high wedding 28 years ago, stated, “I’ve always dreamt of doing this for my daughter, and there’s no place better than Dubai as it fulfills all the dreams.” The groom, Hridesh, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the significance of the chosen location in making their dreams come true

Traditional Indian dishes, such as mushroom pulao, palak paneer, and daal masala, were served during the ceremony. Energetic chants of the newlyweds’ names resonated through the plane, keeping spirits high for the post-wedding celebrations. In a heartfelt moment captured in footage shared by PTI, Hridesh expressed his joy at marrying his childhood sweetheart, thanking both his father and father-in-law for organizing the grand event, and expressing love for Jetex.

Vidhi, the bride, shared her excitement, expressing gratitude for the unexpected and remarkable celebration arranged by her parents. Notably, Vidhi’s parents had previously made headlines by marrying in a similar airborne fashion, tying the knot on an Air India flight.
