The Non-Resident Indians who have a valid Indian passport can apply for Aadhaar Card straight away upon their arrival in India. Earlier they had to wait for certain duration of time. This is no longer the case.
Aadhaar Card has become one of the most important documents due to its relevance in availing a range of banking, financial and government services for every citizen of India.
The Aadhaar card is available to both resident Indian nationals and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs).

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) in one of the recent tweets had informed citizens that they do not need to wait 182 days to get an Aadhaar Card.
“NRIs who have a valid Indian passport can apply for Aadhaar Card straight away, upon their arrival in India,” the UIDAI said.
Meanwhile, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposed in May 2020 that NRIs with Indian passports be given Aadhaar cards immediately upon arriving in India, eliminating the usual waiting time.
