The event, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, marked an important step in preparations for the upcoming Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas, scheduled to be held in Odisha from January 8 to 10, 2025
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi traveled to New Delhi on Tuesday to participate in the launch ceremony for the official website of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas, odishabytes.com reported.
Majhi’s itinerary detailed his arrival at Hotel Ashok in the national capital at 12:45 p.m., followed by his attendance at the launch event at the C B Muthamma Hall, located in Jawaharlal Nehru Bhavan.
The new website aims to provide crucial information and updates for the event, which celebrates the contributions of the Indian diaspora to the nation
Before this engagement, Majhi actively participated in political campaigns. On Monday, he addressed two election rallies in Jharkhand, where elections are approaching.
At a rally in Saraikela, a region with a significant Odia-speaking population, the CM highlighted the mining scams that have plagued Odisha, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh under non-BJP governments.
“These three states were victims of mining scams under non-BJP regimes. While Odisha and Chhattisgarh have already chosen the BJP, it’s now Jharkhand’s turn,” Majhi stated.
The Chief Minister also criticized the Congress, accusing it of policies that threatened tribal lands. He claimed that the party intended to transfer land ownership from indigenous communities to Muslim and illegal Rohingya settlers.
Majhi is expected to return to Bhubaneswar on Wednesday morning, following his participation in the New Delhi event.
