Government says embassies in Gulf and beyond are actively working to protect the interests of migrant workers from Telangana
More than 45,000 migrant workers from Telangana are currently employed across various Gulf nations, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh told the Lok Sabha, reported siasat.com.
Responding to a query by MP R Raghurama Reddy, the minister said the Government of India has put in place multiple measures to address challenges faced by overseas workers and ensure their welfare.
Indian embassies in the Gulf region have dedicated teams to safeguard workers’ rights, provide assistance in emergencies, and ensure quick redressal through multi-channel communication
Singh noted that Indian embassies, not just in the Gulf but worldwide, are committed to protecting the interests of Telangana workers. Emergency assistance is available via email, phone, WhatsApp, and social media, ensuring prompt responses through specialised departments.
