In a groundbreaking collaboration, the Indian Consulate, Orient Insurance, and Gargash Insurance Services have unveiled the Pravasi Protection Plan (PPP), a vital safety net tailored to the needs of the Indian workforce in the UAE. This initiative addresses a critical gap in coverage, providing comprehensive protection beyond workplace accidents to encompass natural deaths and accidental disabilities on a global scale, Khaleej Times reported.

“Pravasi Protection Plan (PPP) is a significant step towards enhancing the welfare of the Indian workforce in the UAE,” the report quoted Mustafa O. Vazayil, Managing Director of Gargash Insurance Services as saying. With a substantial portion of the Indian diaspora in the UAE comprising blue-collar workers, many lack adequate life insurance, leaving their families vulnerable in times of tragedy. Vazayil emphasized the affordability of the plan, designed to accommodate both large corporations and SMEs, urging companies to integrate it into their employee welfare offerings.

  • As companies increasingly prioritize employee welfare, initiatives like the Pravasi Protection Plan (PPP) serve as a testament to the power of collaboration in addressing pressing societal challenges
  • In providing a safety net for vulnerable workers and their families, this initiative exemplifies the intersection of compassion and innovation in the insurance sector

Statistics from the Indian Consulate underscore the necessity of such a plan, with 1,500 to 2,000 Indian workers in the UAE succumbing to natural causes or illnesses annually, leaving their families financially exposed. While existing insurances may cover work-related incidents, the PPP fills the void, extending protection beyond working hours.

  1. Rajendran, Deputy Managing Director of Gargash Insurance Services, highlighted the broader significance of the PPP, noting its role in fostering inclusivity and care for the worker community in the UAE. The plan caters not only to corporates but also to startups and SMEs, with premiums starting as low as Dh37 annually.

Since its launch on March 1st, 2024, the PPP has garnered significant interest from UAE-based companies, covering nearly 20,000 lives. Rajendran emphasized its cost-effectiveness for employers and its potential for expansion into other GCC markets in the future.

The PPP represents a milestone for Gargash Insurance, reflecting its commitment to innovation and meeting market needs. Mustafa O. Vazayil emphasized that the initiative extends beyond mere insurance, offering reassurance to hardworking individuals that their contributions are recognized, valued, and safeguarded.
