Amarinder Singh invited Sidhu to the tea party, he threw for party leaders, while Sidhu in a letter requested Amarinder to come for his installation ceremony
Politics is the game of twists and turns and it is truly happening in Punjab, where Assembly elections are due in March 2022.
After several weeks of angry exchanges, the newly-appointed Punjab Congress chief, Navjot Singh Sidhu, met Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, just before the former’s elevation ceremony, at Punjab Bhawan in Chandigarh.
Earlier, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh was upset due to the cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu’s refusal to apologise for his remarks against him. In a bid to engineer truce, while Amarinder Singh invited Sidhu to the tea party, he threw for party leaders, Sidhu, in a letter, requested Amarinder to come for the installation ceremony.
Amarinder had earlier said he would meet Sidhu only if he apologised for remarks against him over handling of his government.
Sidhu greeted the CM with folded hands when he arrived at Punjab Bhawan. The meeting between the two was indeed surprising in the light of the differences between them in the very recent past.
Earlier, Amarinder had said he would meet Sidhu only if he apologised for remarks against him over handling of his government.
Meanwhile, Sidhu’s men were adamant that he should not apologise.
Navjot Singh Sidhu has been at loggerheads with Amarinder Singh over multiple issues. Sidhu was angry with Singh and had passed derogatory remarks, over the alleged delay in delivering justice in the desecration of Guru Granth Sahib and the post sacrilege 2015 police firing incident.
In the middle of all this, while the two were at loggerheads, Navjot Singh Sidhu was appointed president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee on Sunday.
