Overseas Punjabis from seven districts will be able to raise property, family, legal and administrative issues directly with senior officials
CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government will hold an NRI Milni in Bathinda on August 26, offering overseas Punjabis a platform to raise their grievances directly with senior civil and police officials.
Punjab NRI Affairs Minister Dr Ravjot Singh said the meeting is part of the state government’s continuing effort to address complaints and other issues faced by Punjabis living abroad through direct interaction and coordination with concerned departments.
The meeting will be held at 11am on Wednesday at Hotel Sepal on GT Road, near Tinkoni in Bathinda. Overseas Punjabis linked to Bathinda, Moga, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Fazilka, Sri Muktsar Sahib and Mansa districts will be eligible to participate.

Participants will be able to place their complaints, concerns and suggestions before senior government and police officers

The government has said that the relevant departments will coordinate on the cases raised and seek to expedite possible solutions
The issues expected to come before officials include property disputes, family matters, administrative concerns and legal complaints involving overseas Punjabis and their families in Punjab. The initiative is also intended to maintain closer communication between the state government and the Punjabi diaspora.
The Bathinda event follows NRI Milnis previously organised in SAS Nagar (Mohali) and Ludhiana. According to the government, those meetings covered grievances involving overseas Punjabis from eight districts.
The latest announcement comes as the Punjab Government continues to focus on direct engagement with the diaspora. Earlier this month, discussions between the state’s NRI Affairs Minister and British officials also covered concerns affecting Punjabis in the UK and NRIs with links to Punjab.
