Qatar has included India and five other countries in its ‘exceptional travel red list’ based on international and local health risk indicators and Covid-19 epidemiology. According to the list, fully vaccinated visitors from India and Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Nepal, and Egypt, who have pre-approved and on-arrival visas, will be subject to two days of isolation or quarantine in a hotel upon their arrival.
Such travellers (all age groups) will also be required to undergo an RT-PCR test post-arrival in Qatar within 72 hours followed by a rapid antigen test on the second day of the quarantine.
The rapid antigen test in Qatar should be taken from a Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) health center or private clinics/ hospitals licensed by the Ministry of Public Health Qatar
Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health in its update also mentioned that unvaccinated travellers from the six nations will not be allowed to enter Qatar. The change is effective January 30 from 7 pm. (GMT+3). Approved vaccines in Qatar are – Pfizer / BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca (Covishield / Oxford / Vaxzevria), Jansen / Johnson & Johnson, Sinopharm, Sinovac, Sputnik V, and Covaxin.
According to the Qatar Ministry of Public Health’s policy, diplomats, administrative cardholders, and VIP visitors arriving on official state visits are excluded from this measure.
Other entry requirements for visitors:
Non-residents of Qatar must register via the pre-registration system for people entering the State of Qatar on the www.ehteraz.gov.qa website and upload all relevant documents such as vaccine certificates at least three days before arrival.
PCR test result will no longer required during the electronic preregistration process. Instead, travellers must present the original copy of the PCR test result to the airlines in order to allow them to board the plane, or at the country’s ports (land and sea). Travellers will also be subjected to random testing on arrival. Travellers should download the Ehteraz mobile application and activate it on their mobile phones using a local or international SIM card on arrival at Qatar’s entry points. SIM cards and smartphones are available for purchase at Hamad International Airport and Abu Samra border crossing if the passenger does not own them before arrival.
All passengers must sign an Undertaking and Acknowledgement Form before arriving in Qatar. The form is available on the Ministry of Public Health website, pre-registration platform website (www.ehteraz.gov.qa), and airline online booking.
