Visit Qatar hosted a four-day familiarisation trip for nine Indian MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) agents from October 1 to 4, as Qatar seeks to deepen business-events ties with India.

The programme gave the Indian delegation an opportunity to assess Doha’s hotels, event facilities and hospitality services first-hand. Site visits included Raffles Doha, Fairmont Doha, Sheraton Grand Doha Resort and The Plaza Doha, offering participants an overview of venues suitable for corporate meetings, conferences and incentive groups.

The visit also included cultural and leisure experiences designed to demonstrate options that can be incorporated into corporate incentive programmes. The group took part in a dhow cruise and desert safari and visited the National Museum of Qatar, Souq Waqif and Katara Cultural Village.

During the programme, the Indian buyers met Visit Qatar’s MICE team to discuss market trends, client requirements and potential support for future events. The discussions were aimed at developing business leads and encouraging Indian travel professionals to consider Qatar for corporate and incentive programmes.

  • The initiative comes as Qatar places greater emphasis on India as a source market for business events

  • Visit Qatar maintains a dedicated MICE office in Mumbai, reflecting its focus on developing relationships with Indian travel and event professionals

The outreach also follows recent discussions between Qatar’s embassy in New Delhi and Visit Qatar representatives on strengthening tourism cooperation between the two countries.

For Indian MICE planners, the familiarisation trip provided direct exposure to Doha’s event infrastructure and the wider destination experience, potentially helping them assess the country for future corporate travel programmes.
