West Midlands Police describe the crime as “appalling” and seek public help to identify the suspect
A 20-year-old Indian-origin woman was raped and assaulted in what police have called a “racially aggravated attack” in the Park Hall area of Walsall, West Midlands, United Kingdom. The horrifying incident occurred on Saturday evening, prompting a major police investigation, reported gujaratsamachar.com.
Police have released a blurry CCTV image of the accused — described as a white man in his 30s, with short hair and dark clothing — as they appeal to the public for urgent information.
- According to the West Midlands Police, officers responded around 7:15 pm on Saturday after receiving reports of a distressed woman on the street
- “Officers established that she had been raped and assaulted at a nearby property by a man she did not know. She is now being supported by our officers,” the force said in a statement
Detective Superintendent Ronan Tyrer, who is leading the investigation, condemned the crime, calling it “an absolutely appalling attack on a young woman.” He added, “We are doing absolutely everything we can to arrest the person responsible.”
Tyrer said teams are “recovering evidence and building a profile of the attacker” to bring him into custody as soon as possible. Police urged residents to share any information or footage that could assist in identifying the suspect.
The authorities have also increased patrols in the area to reassure the community and address concerns following the attack.
Anyone with information has been urged to contact West Midlands Police via 101 or Live Chat, quoting log 4027 of 25 October.
The incident has sparked shock and concern among local Indian and South Asian communities, with calls for stronger measures to combat racially motivated violence and protect vulnerable individuals.
