A video showing a man targeting a group of young individuals, believed to be Indian students, with racist remarks has gone viral in Canada. The incident, which took place as the group waited roadside with their luggage, has drawn strong reactions and sparked debates on social media , reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com.

Video of racist remarks highlights growing concerns over discrimination in Canada

Shared by RTN Canada on X, the video captures the man filming the group without consent while making derogatory comments. Referring to them as “refugees,” he says, “Alright, the refugees are here from India. This is Justin Trudeau’s reign. So many Indians.” He continues mocking the group, zooming in on their luggage, and adding, “Thanks to Justin Trudeau.”

  • The students, visibly uncomfortable, largely avoided engaging, with one offering a polite smile

  • The text on the video reads, “Where are the white people in Canada?” It is unclear if those filmed were Indian immigrants, but the footage has drawn over a million views, igniting condemnation.

Social media users swiftly reacted, denouncing the blatant racism. “They are not refugees, they are students paying lots of money to go there,” one user commented. Another added, “This is utter nonsense. These are students who come with proper visas.”

A controversial perspective also emerged, with one user claiming, “Downtown Toronto is now not too similar to New Delhi. Canada must remain multicultural, not India.”

The X account later posted another video of the same man harassing an Indian couple in a food court, where he verbally abused them while they chose to ignore him.

Incidents like this underscore the need for dialogue on racism and inclusivity

The viral video has reignited discussions about the challenges faced by immigrants and international students in Canada. Activists and social media users are urging for stricter measures to combat hate speech and ensure the safety of minority communities.
