With tools that simplify planning and offer value for money, platforms like Wego are helping residents make the most of Saudi Arabia’s peak winter travel season
Domestic travel within Saudi Arabia has seen a sharp rise this winter, with new data from Wego showing a 64 per cent year-on-year increase in local flight bookings. The trend points to a growing preference among residents to explore destinations within the Kingdom, choosing short, experience-focused trips over international travel.
Milder winter temperatures, improved connectivity and a wider choice of attractions have encouraged travellers to holiday closer to home. From entertainment-packed cities to cooler mountain retreats, Saudi Arabia’s regions are offering something for every type of traveller.
Riyadh remains the standout destination this winter, recording a 59.44 per cent increase in bookings. The ongoing Riyadh Season 2025–2026 continues to draw visitors with its mix of concerts, sporting events, global dining options and large-scale entertainment. The capital’s vibrant calendar has made it a natural choice for winter breaks across all age groups.
At the same time, scenic destinations are gaining popularity. Taif has seen bookings surge by 67.97 per cent, reflecting strong demand for its cooler climate and mountain views.
