Scheduled flight services from India set to begin

The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Civil Aviation in India are in talks to restart international scheduled flights soon. Arvind Singh, the Tourism Secretary of India stated this, in the backdrop of several companies including Wipro, Deloitte, HDFC, Axis Bank gearing up to end work from home in a staggered manner.
Air passengers from India are jubilant with this news, as India had closed its borders since the pandemic hit last year. The date is yet to be announced by the concerned Ministries of Home and Civil Aviation. India has air bubble arrangement with 18 countries, and 49 cities till September. Only the special international flights are operating with proper COVID protocols.

Around 14.5 million jobs have been lost in the first quarter of 2020-21, 5.2 million during Q2 and 1.8 million during Q3 as compared to an estimated 34.8 million jobs in the pre-pandemic period of 2019-20 (direct jobs)

According to a study conducted by the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), the impact of Covid is such on tourism that around 14.5 million jobs have been lost in the first quarter of 2020-21, 5.2 million during Q2 and 1.8 million during Q3 as compared to an estimated 34.8 million jobs in the pre-pandemic period of 2019-20 (direct jobs).
