Sri Lanka defeated Afghanistan in the super-4 stage of Asia Cup by four wickets. Earlier Sri Lankan captain, Dasun Shanaka won the toss and invited Afghanistan to bat.

Riding on superb 84 runs of 45 balls by Rahamantullah Gurbaz, which included 4 fours and 6 sixes, Afghanistan were able to reach a challenging total of 175 runs. Ibrahim Jardan also contributed with a solid 40.Once it appeared that Afghanistan would easily cross 200 runs and Sri Lanka will have a huge total to chase. But in the death overs, Sri Lankan bowlers bowled tight and Afghanis looked clueless. Apart from Gurbaz and Jardan no other batsman did contribute. Afghaistan till now have played a very competitive cricket but they need match exposure. Rashid Khan ,the spinner and the most experienced of the lot, going for runs (39 runs in 4 overs) was also a setback to the losing team.

Sri Lanka could win just 5 balls remaining ,clearly showed that had few more runs were added ,the result of the match could have been different .Almost all the Sri Lankan batsmen played their part and helped there team move further in the tournament.

For his brilliant batting performance, Gurbaz was adjudged Man of the Match.
