Tata Sons emerge successful bidder for Air India

Formed in 1932 by Tatas as a mail carrier, the airline is going back in the hands of Tatas again.

A ministerial panel recommended Tata Sons’ bid for India’s state-run airline Air India on Friday, October 2, 2021, Bloomberg News reported.

According to the Bloomberg report, Just a day earlier, former Air India director Jitender Bhargava had said that Tata Group will likely receive the government’s nod considering how the company is capable of revamping the flag carrier.

Formed in 1932 by Tatas as a mail carrier, the airline is going back in the hands of Tatas again. With this the Tata Sons would have successful bidder control of 4,400 domestic and 1,800 international landing and parking slots at domestic airports, as well as 900 slots at airports overseas.
