She along with the Regional Passport Officer (RPO) Dasari Balaiah, Protector of Emigrants (PoE) Mukesh Kaushik and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Branch Secretariat Officer VS Thakur, released the video through film actor Akkineni Nagarjuna.

A video message to promote safe and legal migration was released by Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan at Raj Bhavan here on Saturday, a report in Telangana Today says.

The message from a celebrity to promote safe and legal migration in the regional language has been one of the initiatives of MEA towards ensure protection and welfare of emigrants, especially ECR passport holders going abroad for overseas employment.

The PoE and RPO work together to promote safe and legal migration and deal with the challenges of illegal emigration. “It is the right time to prepare our vulnerable citizens for the overseas employment opportunities that are ahead of us in a world that is fighting Covid-19 pandemic and gradually returning to normalcy,” a press release said.

The release further said that informing youth and workers about new destinations and opportunities was an important role for PoE and RPO offices in view of the MoU signed with UK on mobility and partnership, the MOC on specified skilled workers with Japan in 14 sectors, and MoU on skilled manpower mobility between India and Portugal.

Various welfare schemes such as Pravasi Bharatiya Bima Yojana (PBBY), Pre-Departure Orientation Training (PDOT) and Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF), and eMigrate platform together form the framework created by the Central government for protection and welfare of emigrants.
