Top 10 Richest Indian List 2021 features IIT Alumni from Himachal

Once belonging to a small village in Himachal Pradesh, IIT alumnus, 62-year-old business tycoon, CEO and founder of Zscaler, Jay Chaudhry, founded the cyber security firm in 2007. Today he features among top 10 wealthiest people in India as per the latest IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich list 2021. His net wealth is estimated at Rs 1,21,600 crore and he has earned Rs 153 crore in the last one year.

He owns 42 per cent of the Nasdaq-listed firm, which has a market cap of Rs 281,000 crore. As corporate ransomware attacks increased, the demand for the cyber security company grew to contribute 85 per cent of the wealth in his name. This pushed him to the number 10 spot on the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich list 2021. A titan of his industry and a prominent self-made billionaire, his is a rags to riches story. In his native village of Panoh, often there was no electricity or running water. SecureIT, CoreHarbor, CipherTrust and AirDefense are the other tech companies launched by Jay Chaudhry.

Among the top 10 richest people on the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich list 2021, steel magnates Lakshmi Mittal, 71 of ArcelorMittal as well as Kumar Mangalam Birla, 54 of Aditya Birla occupy the number 5 and number 9 spots on the list and for the first time both the Adani brothers too featured on the list, News18 reported.

According to the report, India has 237 billionaires, up 58 compared to last year. Chemicals and Software produced the greatest number of new entrants to the list, Pharma is still the number 1 and has contributed 130 entrants in the list.
