Both the Supreme Court of India and CBI gave a clean chit to the scientist, with the former asking the CBI to investigate the role of erring police officials in the espionage case

The Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) gave the Kerala Police direction to arrest Nambi Narayan, Mathews mentioned in his bail plea.

He called to “throw the 1996 Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) report into the dustbin.”

The CBI opposed the bail plea and informed that the Jain committee report could be submitted to the court in a sealed cover.

Meanwhile, former police officers and accused in 1994 ISRO espionage case produced some land documents in the Kerala High Court saying that scientist Nambi Narayanan had transferred large tracts of land to the then DIG of CBI, and wife of then police officer Raman Srivastava. The DIG, CBI probed the espionage case.
